There's a road laid out before him that he's been dreading walking down for years. It goes in a direction he never wanted to go, but one he always knew was inevitable.
He's not ready.
He's not old enough.
But, there's no one else.
The road will kill Dick by inches. He'll take it with grim determination, but Tim can't let him.
He has to take that first step before his brother does and is irrevocably lost.
Alfred accedes without an argument. He knows the road is Tim's as well.
Tim takes a deep breath and pulls up the cowl.
